Kiviks Hotel – Beautifully located above Kivik

Our hotel is beautifully situated on a hill above old Kivik with expansive views of the sea.
The hotel has 32 rooms, including three suites, spread over three buildings, a restaurant, spa and three conference rooms.
In the garden, which once was a miniature of the Sofiero Castle garden, now a beautiful Italian neo-renaissance garden, there is Villa Julia with three large double rooms which all have separate entrances from the garden. Two of those rooms are furnished with a sofa bed, suitable for families with children.
Close by is Villa Laura with three rooms on the upper floor furnished in Laura Ashley-style, and a large beautiful suite on the ground floor with a fantastic view over the sea. Villa Laura is excellent for a management team requiring a conference in seclusion or for a group celebrating a birthday.
In the main building you may choose between a room in the turn of the century Villa Emiliero or in the newer functionalist wing. The rooms are facing either the sea or the park and some of them offers a balcony. With personal touches and the warm reception from our staff, we wish for you to experience peace, harmony and privacy.
The original hotel building is over 100 years old and once housed Prince Eugen himself for three summers in the '30s when he came here to paint inspired as he was by the environment in Österlen. You may, as did the prince, watch the sunrise over the sea and listen to the whispering pendula beech as it slowly cradles its tremendous tree crown in the seabreeze.
You visit us to relax, socialize and to just be. The atmosphere offers treats for all senses.
All rooms are equipped with a shower and toilet as well as TV and wireless internet. When you stay with us breakfast is included. Check in from 3 pm and check out by 11 am. The lobby is handicap accessible and there is free parking available for our guests. The Spa is on the ground floor. The hotel is pet and smoke free.
At Kiviks Hotel we offer a variety of packages, including Tasting packages, Spa and Relax packages, Romantic packages and Hiking and Cycling or Mountainbike packages.
You can also choose to start with a basic Room and Breakfast and ad on whatever you prefer.
If you live nearby, you are welcome to book a massage in our Spa or book a table in our restaurant or just pop in for a glass of wine or maybe just a cup of coffee.
Please call or send us an email with your request!
Paradise in Kivik - spring and summer approaches
Nature gives us its spectacle when the lovely apple blossom takes off, the rays of the sun reflects the seas deep blue shades and people from unknown places enjoy the spectacular views and all Kivik has to offer.
At Easter the artists open up their studios and this is when the annual konstrundan takes place. always the same weekend as the Ascension is the time for another traditional round, with the food namely Matrundan! After a spectacular summer comes autumn colors and with them also all shades of a variety of apples that might attract a visit to the very special Apple Market last weekend in September. Österlen in winter is a delight to the eye and Christmas and New Year is celebrated with good local food, with an extra touch of luxury.
Paradise is found in Kivik... all year around.

The story of Kiviks Hotel
What today is Kiviks hotel at Moriabacken originally consisted of a building called Emiliero. The villa was built in 1908 for the lawyer and businessman Åke Hjort from Malmo and his wife Emilia Persson. The couple's adopted son Olof came later to sell the villa of Colonel Einar Wikland and his wife Ruth in 1917th.
Einar Wikland was a time aide to Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf, later King Gustaf VI Adolf, and made several trips of diplomatic character. Mrs. Wikland was a teacher in French and of very refined character. It is said that she, when her husband became ill, drove the tractor herself, dressed in both coat and hat as befitted a real lady. Speaking of hats, we have actually kept the Colnels fancy tophat and the hat box here at the hotel! We are happy to show it on request!
In the summer of 1934 the Crown Prince visited Emiliero, then known as "Wikland´s villa", in connection with the inauguration of the restored Kungagraven (Bredarör). The reason the Crown Prince stayed in the Villa at the time was that Prince Eugen was renting it. He had done so even during the the summers of 1931 and in 1932.
In 1957 Emiliero was purchased by Kristianstad County Council and was converted into convalescent home. They extended the villa with a wing that included room, dining room and kitchen. In the original villa much of the interior was torn out, unfortunately, a number of fine ceramic tile stoves. However in our honeymoon suite, there is a very beautiful tile stove left and it really makes the room extra romantic.
In 1992 the convalescent home was closed down and the villa was sold. Kiviks Hotel is now run by the family Linde from Lund who acquired the hotel in 2007. After a complete renovation of the entire property the doors were opened up for guests in spring 2008.

Our restaurant at Kiviks Hotel
Enjoy our delicacies from Skåne region along with a good wine, good company and not least, the endless views of the ocean.
It is our ambition to maintain a high quality of food and service, and our kitchen offers dishes of both local and international character.
For us it is important to use ingredients from local suppliers so much of the food will, in other words come from the neighbors! Lamb, fish, geese, game, asparagus, apples and more, depending on the season.
In summer it is nice to have dinner served on the terrace. Start with an aperitif in the bar or in our neo-Italian Renaissance style garden and finish with a whiskey or brandy.
To be sure to get a seat in the restaurant whether you stay with us or not, we recommend that you pre-book a table.
We offer a well-composed five course dinner as well as tasty breakfastbuffé. During summer our outdoor Bacchus Bar is open when weather allows it. Every last Friday of the month we also open up our Oyster Bar.
